Buenos dias fellow farmers, gardeners and earth lovers! Farmer Scholarships Available!
Would you like to free your self from the damaging and costly world of conventional farming inputs and learn simple DIY techniques to effectively and economically restore soil health and fertility for pennies on the dollar? Please join us at the beautiful CAI for a one day introduction into the empowering natural farming concepts of JADAM! Founded in Korea by Youngsang Cho in 1991, JADAM stands for "people who love nature". Youngsang Cho learned natural farming from his father Hankyu Cho who founded Korean Natural Farming (KNF). Through decades of practice and research, he created a new ultra-low cost organic agriculture system based on his father's farming and Asian traditional farming. Together we will connect with the land and explore the core components and easy to make inputs of JADAM tech through this fun hands on workshop. We will learn how to craft the fundamental inputs of JADAM including JMS and JLF from the natural resources around your farm and local area to naturally increase soil fertility, crop production, health and vigor, and effectively mitigate pest and disease pressure.
Potluck and quick introduction into Bokashi also included. Hope to see you !!
My name is Gerrit Van Houweling. I grew up in the high desert of Central Oregon on a small 10 acre ranch where learning to connect with nature and wildlife was part of every day life and my favorite past time. After graduated high-school, I began splitting my time in community College and working on local food farms specializing in optimizing crop production and soil health.
I deeply resonated with organic and holistic farming approaches at a young age and started my first micro farm at 19. I began applying self study and various organic practices to the land learning through trial and error the fundamentals of soil science. Now, nearly 17 years later I steward 2 five acre regenerative farms in my home town of Tumalo Oregon applying Permaculture design, JADAM, KNF, AACT and natural farming philosophy to slowly build soil and food production spaces.
Through the complex hurdles of farming in such a difficult area, I have had to learn much about resourceful and natural farming techniques involving building healthy soil, water wise farming, composting and aerobic and anaerobic microbiology. After taking 2 workshop courses in Southern Oregon in 2018 I have a teachers certificate in JADAM/KNF and am currently working beyond the farm on developing a local compost business and as an ecological landscape designer/installer where I hope to introduce more people to ecological farming system approaches.
